Take this test.

Take the Barack Obama Test to find out where you stand on issues, where B.O. stands, and where the rest of America stands. http://www.barackobamatest.com/

The Blame Game

Our economy is in a lot of trouble right now and it seems that all the suits in Washington want to do is play the blame game. The mess we're in right now cannot be put squarely on the shoulders of one party, but it is mostly do to the continued actions and non-actions of one organization; congress. In the early '90's legislation was passed to loosen up the credit and lending laws because people were falsely claiming racism on the part of lenders. Thus, the 'sub-prime' loans were born. Over the years, more and more laws were stacked on top of the first ones to the point that they were practically giving houses away to first time home buyers 5-7 years ago. Both parties have had their opportunities to make changes and they haven't.

The following are some comments from Glenn Beck's website. He puts more of the blame on the democrats and brings up some surprising information that the mainstream media doesn't tell you. The comments in blue are those of a typical liberal and the reply are those of the always articulate, always charming and handsome conservative...

'The last thing we need is another 4 years of the failed Republican policies that have led us to the brink of disaster...with the mess they've made of huge financial institutions like Fannie Mae & AIG, that we now have to bail out!'
1. Fannie Mae really WAS run right into the ground wasn't it? And guess what? It was DEMOCRATS who did it. Former Fannie Mae Chairman and CEO Franklin Raines was the White House budget director under Bill Clinton. He was also cited by the Washington Post as an economic advisor to...Barack Obama. Obama, in his very short time in the U.S. Senate also quickly became the second largest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae, ahead of even John Kerry.

'OK, ONE democrat doesn't make this a democrat caused problem!'
2. Well then, there's Jamie Gorelick. Does that name sound familiar? She served as Bill Clinton's Deputy Attorney General. She installed the Intelligence "Wall of Separation" that helped lead to the disaster we suffered on 9/11. Then she served as Vice Chairman at Fannie Mae. In 2002, she told "BusinessWeek" that Fannie Mae was "very, very strong" and was "managed safely". For her efforts, driving the company to the brink, she received $26 million plus bonuses.

'That doesn't explain this incredible mess we're in now'
3. Actually, in large part, it does. Fannie Mae is heavily involved with the Congressional Black Caucus. Interim CEO Daniel Mudd described the relationship Fannie Mae and the Congressional Black Caucus shared as a "family" relationship. The Caucus pressured Fannie Mae to get mortgage loans for millions of Americans who couldn't afford them. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were the worst offenders in this housing loan crisis, which in turn caused so many banking institutions to go down with it. The crisis has had a domino effect throughout our financial institutions. In fact, AIG was in part brought down because it held $600 million in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Meanwhile, President Bush has called for reforming Fannie and Freddie 17 TIMES this year alone! The democrats' fingerprints are all over this crisis.

Here is the original White House Press Release. It would have been nice if the media actually 'released' it. They want you to think that this is all because of the GOP. A new CNN poll actually shows that the majority of people believe it too.

Should there be charges filed? Should these Fannie and Freddie people go to jail? Remember Enron? Do you think congress is going to hold hearings to investigate all of this? Last year at this time congress was busy holding hearings over steroids in baseball. Thank goodness we got to the bottom of that.

Emotional Hippies - Crying Over Dead Trees

One of the tags for this video on Youtube is "Vote for Obama 2008". Not sure he'd like to be aligned with people so rational. They just want the trees to know that they care. I'm sure the trees appreciate it very much. Here, have a tissue. Oh wait, sorry I only have real tissues; no cloth... use your sleeve stinky.

Hiking

We got out of the house and enjoyed the mountains yesterday. Here is a video of what it's like for a 4 year old to blaze the trail.

No hike would be complete without playing "Pooh sticks." It's a game we learned from our friend Whinnie the Pooh. Everybody chooses their own stick and you all drop it from the upstream side of a bridge. The person's stick that comes out on the other side first wins. I know, it sounds very exciting. Trust me, it is.

It's getting cold, and I don't mean the weather

The United States kicked out Venezuela's ambassador in Washington in retaliation for Hugo Chavez kicking the U.S. envoy out of Venezuela. Here's the story.

Earlier this week of two Russian bombers landing in Venezuela.

"The Yankee hegemony is finished," he added.
A Russian defence ministry
spokesman confirmed that the planes had flown to Venezuela, adding that they
were escorted by NATO fighters as they flew across the Atlantic.
The planes
are capable of carrying nuclear missiles, but the spokesman did not give any
information about whether they were carrying arms during this mission.
President Chavez has backed Russia's military operations in Georgia, and
said that he is interested in buying Russian submarines.

Joe "Dirt" Biden

The Obama camp was out in full force today. I wouldn't say they'd consider a very productive day...

Biden helped the struggling Obama campaign out today by telling a man in a wheelchair to stand up.

He did this after making some fantastic remarks about when life begins. For him, it starts at conception. Well, don't you think that's a little strange coming from a campaign who supports abortion. Read this article, you can't make this stuff up.

Joe Dirt wasn't done insulting people though. He told voters in voters in Columbia, Mo., “I hear all this talk about how the Republicans are going to work in dealing with parents who have both the joy, because there’s joy to it as well, the joy and the difficulty of raising a child who has a developmental disability, who were born with a birth defect. Well guess what folks? If you care about it, why don’t you support stem cell research?”

McCain camp responded with..."“Barack Obama’s running mate sunk to a new low today launching an offensive debate over who cares more about special needs children. Playing politics with this issue is disturbing and indicative of a desperate campaign,” said campaign spokesman Ben Porritt

Somebody needs to tell this guy that stem cell research can't do anything for kids with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. Read the article here.

Barack Obama didn't want to be outdone by his running mate so today he said this little gem... "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." Here is an article by the New York Post which says he "put his foot in his mouth." Do you think he's making a reference to Palin? It looks like the audience took it that way...I do too. Here it is in it's context.

Hottest toy of the season...

Quickly gaining strength and rivaling other gangs are the political nerds (who me?). Reminiscent of "trekkies", these "politickies" (I'm coining that one) have a new toy to play with. The Sarah Palin Action Figure hit the net today from the same company (http://www.herobuilders.com/) that built our favorite players John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Mr. B. O., Dick Cheney, George Bush, and many more.
The Palin action figure costs about $30 and comes in three versions; the executive, the superhero, and, of course the naughty school girl.

Olbermann and Matthews go Ba-bye.

MSNBC has relieved Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews of their duties of brown nosing the democratic party. They will most certainly continue their practice for their role as commentators but no longer as anchors who are supposed to remain unbiased. MSNBC finished dead last...read the complete story here.

Also, McCain now leads by a 10 point margin according to a recent USA Today poll.

Prediction

Just a quick prediction before Palin gives her speech tonight. No matter how good it is; no matter if it is the best speech ever given by a politician, a woman, or a human being in the history of mankind, the media will tear it apart and say that she didn't deliver. The hypocrisy from the left and the media is absolutely amazing. They are tearing Palin apart because she is running "in a time of family crisis". However, they only had praise for Biden when he took office 2 weeks after his wife was killed in a car accident. TWO WEEKS! He took his oath of office at his son's bedside in the hospital!!!

I thought the left was all about women in the work force. That women could do it all. Why is the left all of a sudden concerned about proper parenting? I guess a woman who is against abortion and is conservative just doesn't fit the mold of what they had in mind.

This will all backfire on the media. They are only rallying the troops behind Palin. The last thing they want is a mobilized force of soccer mom's coming to the aide of one of their sisters. The media is throwing everything they possibly can at her right now...they will run out of ammo soon, but they will then be facing a unified conservative, evangelical, republican base.

Final thought. Has anyone ever thought that a baby is a "punishment"? Some babies aren't planned and some come at "inconvenient" times in people's lives but are they ever a "punishment"? After that same baby turns 4 years old, 10, 15, reaches adulthood...are they still a "punishment"? Did you know that Obama's mom was 17 when he was conceived AND she wasn't married?

I guess his momma was punished with a baby. Watch this....
