Obama Supporters
High Expectations
Barack Obama's senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations
for his presidency if he wins next week's election, amid concerns that many of
his euphoric supporters are harboring unrealistic hopes of what he can
achieve.
The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful
recession have increased the urgency inside the Obama team to bring people down
to earth, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises of "hope"
and "change" are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.
One
senior adviser told The Times that the first few weeks of the transition,
immediately after the election, were critical, "so there's not a vast mood swing
from exhilaration and euphoria to despair."
The aide said that Obama himself
was the first to realize that expectations risked being inflated.image by joesmack_2007 Photobucket

Harlem voters
So we all know that it is racist to discriminate against someone based on their race. The media and the left make sure that "whitey" knows he's a racist if he disagrees with B.O. Not surprising is that the media and left never brings up how it is just as racist to blindly favor and support a person just because they are the same color.

Joe Biden's Speech Everybody Should Hear
ABC News' Matthew Jaffe Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., on Sunday guaranteed that if elected, Sen. Barack Obama., D-Ill., will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions.
"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."Not only will the next administration have to deal with foreign affairs issues, Biden warned, but also with the current economic crisis.
"Gird your loins," Biden told the crowd. "We're gonna win with your help, God willing, we're gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It's like cleaning the Augean stables, man. This is more than just, this is more than – think about it, literally, think about it – this is more than just a capital crisis, this is more than just markets. This is a systemic problem we have with this economy."
The Delaware lawmaker managed to rake in an estimated $1 million total from his two money hauls at the downtown Sheraton, the same hotel where four years ago Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., clinched the Democratic nomination. Despite warning about the difficulties the next administration will face, Biden said the Democratic ticket is equipped to meet the challenges head on."I've forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know, so I'm not being falsely humble with you. I think I can be value added, but this guy has it," the Senate Foreign Relations chairman said of Obama. "This guy has it. But he's gonna need your help. Because I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, 'Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? Why is the polling so down? Why is this thing so tough?' We're gonna have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years. So I'm asking you now, I'm asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you're going to have to reinforce us."
"There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision'," Biden continued. "Because if you think the decision is sound when they're made, which I believe you will when they're made, they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound."Biden emphasized that the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border is of particular concern, with Osama bin Laden "alive and well" and Pakistan "bristling with nuclear weapons."
"You literally can see what these kids are up against, our kids in that region," Biden said in recalling when his helicopter was forced down due to a snowstorm there. "The place is crawling with al Qaeda. And it's real." "We do not have the military capacity, nor have we ever, quite frankly, in the last 20 years, to dictate outcomes," he cautioned. "It's so much more important than that. It's so much more complicated than that. And Barack gets it."
After speaking for just over a quarter of an hour, Biden noticed the media presence in the back of the small ballroom. "I probably shouldn't have said all this because it dawned on me that the press is here," he joked."All kidding aside, these guys have left us in a God-awful place," he then said of the Bush regime, promptly wrapping up his remarks. "We have the ability to straighten it out. It's gonna take a little bit of time, so I ask you to stay with us. Stay with us."

Joe Biden Can't Count
This guy gets away with everything. Dan Quayle was crucified for the potato(e) incident, but Biden does stuff like this every single day. On a positive note. If Obama-Biden win, at least we can make fun of Biden for the next 4 years.

Wing suite
This looks like a lot of fun. I may have done it before I had the kids but wouldn't have the nerve for it now. Maybe if there were mountains made out of spongecake and hills made out of Jello. I'm hungry. Gotta go.
Birthdays, Hikes and Photo Bombing
Here, I can be seen thoroughly enjoying yet another stop along the hike to take a picture.
If anyone has any photo-bombs they'd like to send me I'd love to see them.
Obama, Revelations, and the Beast
Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, another powerful Chicago-based political figure associated with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and other long-time associates of Democratic Party presidential candidate Barack Obama, is leaving no doubt about what he thinks of the leader in the campaign for the White House. He says when Obama talks "the Messiah is absolutely speaking." Addressing a large crowd behind a podium Feb. 24 with a Nation of Islam Saviour's Day 2008 sign, Farrakhan proclaims,
"You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that
they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking."
Farrakhan points out that the man Nation of Islam followers refer to as "the Savior," Fard Muhammad, had a black father and a white mother, just as Obama did.
"A black man with a white mother became a savior to us," he said. "A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall.
"Would God allow Barack to be president of a country that has been so racist, so evil in its treatment of Hispanics, native Americans, blacks?" he asked. "Would God do something like that? Yeah. Of course he would. That's to show you that the stone that the builders rejected has become the headstone of the corner. This is a sign to you. It's the time of our rise. It's the time that we should take our place. The future is all about you." Full Story
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. (the majority of the world will admire and desire wickedness in the last days)
4 And they worshipped the dragon (Satan) which gave power unto the beast (representing degenerate earthly kingdoms controlled by Satan): and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him (i.e. isn't he wonderful!)?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. (If Obama was to take office on January 20th, 2009, 42 months later would be the Summer Solstice June 20th. Exactly 6 months later is December 21st, the Winter Soltice, and also happens to be the end date for the Mayan Calendar.)
7 And it was given unto him (allowed him) to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations (he is allowed to tempt people everywhere).
8 And all (the wicked) that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (i.e. those who do not follow the Savior are worshiping Satan; Compare with Matthew 12:30 KJV "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad").
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear (you would be wise to heed these warnings about Satan).
10 He (the powerful wicked) that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity (the wicked will be destroyed by the wicked): he (the wicked) that killeth with the sword must be (will be) killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb ("like a lamb," not "the Lamb," perhaps meaning a powerful "false Christ," a counterfeit by Satan), and he spake as a dragon (like Satan).
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders (Satan and his angels can do miracles), so that he maketh fire come down from heaven (nuclear war???) on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them (the wicked and the foolish) that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image (i.e. worship) to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. (In other words, Satan will do all he can to get pople to follow him, to "worship" him by living wickedly in the last days.)
15 And he had power to give life (make wickedness attractive) unto the image of the beast (which the wicked made in verse 14 by following Satan's instructions), that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: (In the culture of the Bible, "forehead" was symbolic of "loyalty")
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name (Satan exercises great control over economies where the majority are wicked or allow wickedness).
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six (666...not sure exactly what this means).

Background on the Financial Crisis
Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending
By STEVEN A. HOLMES
Published: September 30, 1999
In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.
The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.
Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits...
...In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980's.
''From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us,'' said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. ''If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry.''

Can you believe this?
"Clearly her books aren't going to do as well unless Obama wins, so it looks like she has some investment, literally, in one candidate or the other. And she's supposed to be sitting there as a neutral arbiter during the debate," said NPR's Juan Williams, a FOX News contributor. "I think the world of Gwen Ifill but I know there's a perception problem." Full story
